Visit the Luberon

The Luberon, located in the southern part of the Rhône Valley, is characterized by its cold winters and very hot summers. Our grapes draw their strength from 3,000 hours of sunshine every year. The vines grow here at an altitude ranging from 200 m to 400 m on several types of soils: clay, sandy and soils on limestone scree.

The strong and dry wind called Mistral facilitates the work of winemakers by protecting the plants from excessive moisture and cryptogamic diseases, such as oidium and mildew.

Château Isolette is a 45-hectare vineyard located on the border of picturesque departmental road number 3 between Bonnieux and Apt in the heart of the Luberon Regional Nature Park.

The castle is built on a site occupied by man since prehistoric times and the vine is traditionally cultivated here on dry and sunny hillsides.

GRAPE VARIETIES

SOIL

The clay-limestone terroir is ideal for growing vines.

winogble

Syrah

This variety originates from the Rhône Valley. Its red wines are of a deep colour. The aroma of Syrah is a mix of violet, blackberry, blueberry, blackcurrant or even truffle; it is the leading variety in the Luberon.

Grenache noir

Grenache noir has been a typical variety from the Rhône Valley and Provence since the Middle Ages. Today, it is one of the world’s most cultivated grape varieties. It produces very good red and rosé wines from the south.

Mourvèdre

Mourvèdre is a southern variety and is mainly cultivated along the coast of the Mediterranean Sea. It allows us to obtain very colourful, extremely high-quality red wines and also very good rosés.

Cinsault

Generally Cinsault comes from the southern – and more particularly from the Provençal – coastline and is adapted to warm and very sunny soils. The wine has a very shiny rose-petal colour and presents fruity notes of peach, raspberry, currant, pomegranate, strawberry and nectarine. It is mainly used to produce rosé wine.

Grenache blanc

Both Grenache blanc and noir are mainly Mediterranean grape varieties. In the Rhône Valley it is present in Châteauneuf du Pape, Luberon and Ventoux. It gives round, fine, dry and warm wines.

Clairette

Clairette is one of the oldest varieties in the South. It is typically southern. This variety gives a very alcoholic and slightly acidified fresh wine with aromas of apple and grapefruit.

Bourboulenc

Bourboulenc originates from the south-eastern part of France. It is a white grape variety that ripens quite late. The aroma of this variety, which is not very distinct, evokes the smell of exotic fruits and flowers, such as Provence Broom. This is why the wine is low in alcohol and has both fleeting and subtle aromas.

Chardonnay

This great variety valued worldwide was born in the region of Burgundy. Its golden grape gives exquisite white wines of varied aromas with notes of citrus, dried fruit or even brioche. Depending on its origin and the wine-making technique, these wines can be preserved for a few years.

Viognier

Viognier grape is an ancient variety. It gives white wine of excellent quality and very high delicacy. Very aromatic, the wine is extraordinarily fatty, smooth, not to say buttery.

Cabernet Sauvignon

Cultivated mainly in the south-west of France, this variety gives the wine a power, structure and complexity that will be unveiled after a few years of ageing. Characterised by an aromatic richness with notes of black fruits, violets and raspberries, it produces excellent wines, known for their long aftertaste.

Merlot

Merlot is a variety originating from the south-west of France, red, with small black berries. It appeared at the end of the 18th century. Dark and dense in colour with aromas of red and black fruits and a wide aromatic blend.
